Alexander's story

Alexander Dodswell, yeoman, was the fifth son of Edward and Elizabeth (Elliott) Dodswell.

Alexander was baptised on 2 October 1686 and married by licence dated 1 June 1721 to Anne Baker, daughter of William Baker of Sandhill.

Alexander inherited the "Aynscombes" property from his father Edward, who died in 1736. Alexander was listed as an overseer at Rotherfield in 1744.

Alexander and Anne had eight children, including one set of twins, and all were baptised at Rotherfield.

Alexander was buried at Rotherfield on 6 May 1766. Anne lived another 12 years, dying in 1778. She was buried at Rotherfield on April 7.
